NEXT MEETING - Wednesday 4.00pm - 4 November 2020

Strict regulations still apply in order to comply with Covid-19 safe guidelines. You must be a member of the Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club and swipe in at the door. We are still meeting in the Bowlers Lounge. Please feel welcome to join us.

Last Meeting

Our last meeting was just a casual chat and update on the Group's activities. It is pleasing to see that despite COVID restrictions, it has not deterred those in attendance and our numbers were encouraging.

Pink Bun Promotion

Thank you to the ladies who volunteered to help sell pink buns last Saturday at Bakers Delight. The buns were small and round this year in a six pack for $7.00. The "Breast Friends" shopping bags are still available for sale for $4.00. Our Group donated a fruit basket as the raffle prize and had a great response with ticket sales. The prize was won by "Pete", one of the security men who works at the Village. Apart from promoting the sale of pink buns, the event is a great opportunity to raise awareness for breast cancer and of course our Group. Many people stop for a chat to tell us their story of a family member who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. As we all now know, "awareness" is the key and the earlier breast cancer is detected the better the results.

Cancer Council Information Service

Cancer Council has a new program to be run from Manning Base Hospital Oncology called Cancer Council Information Service (CCIS). The service offers cancer patients, carers, their friends and family information on cancer and a range of support services. Cancer Council is looking for volunteers to be trained to staff the CCIS. You do not need to have a cancer diagnosis or have prior hospital experience. If you are interested in becoming involved in this program, please contact Tim Chapman, Community Program Co-ordinator on 02 66598400.

NEXT coffee/social morning tea on Friday 23 October 2020 at 10.00am at Country Palings Petals and Pots, Green Point. Cathy no longer opens of a Monday so as a “one-off” we are meeting on a Friday.
