COVID-19

As restrictions are being gradually lifted please ensure that you obey the rules and keep social distancing. Most of our Group are in the greater risk category because of our age and then there are those undergoing treatment whose immunity is compromised, so keep safe. Social distance and regularly wash hands or sanitise. During these times do keep in touch amongst yourselves. A phone call to one of your friends or Group members is a way of reaching out - you will feel good about it and so will the receiver of your call.

Meeting times

It is still unknown when our regular monthly meetings will resume. Obviously, we are subject to restrictions and the re-opening of the Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club. Remember when we do meet again it will be at the new time of 4.00pm.

Forster Private Hospital

The Ladies who attend our meetings regularly know that the Group has been keen to donate an item of equipment to the Oncology Unit. Accordingly, the Executive Committee (Heather, Diane and Carol) met with Deanne Portelli, the Chief Executive Officer of the Forster Private Hospital to discuss the matter. We are delighted to advise that Breast Friends have donated two Spot Monitoring Exergen Temperature Monitoring Stations to the Oncology Unit (one for each room). A not so fancy name is a stand alone "Observation Unit". This item is used to take the patients "obs", blood pressure, temperature and oxygen levels. It is an upgraded model from that currently in use.
The Hospital has ordered the Units. Once they are available we will arrange for a plaque acknowledging the donation to be attached to the rear of the unit. Hopefully, we will also arrange for a photo opportunity with the staff to feature in the local media.

Great Lakes Palliative Care Support

National Palliative Care Week is 24-30 May 2020 and their Annual Memorial Service has been cancelled due to COVID19. They have new premises at 2/32 Manning Street, Tuncurry (across the road from the amphitheatre at John Wright Park) and are displaying a memorial window. Donations can be made to GLPCS in memory of a loved one and a flower will be placed in their window display in their memory. Contact Deidre Stokes on 0437830818 (PO Box 163, Forster 2428) if you wish to be involved.

No Morning tea/coffee dates planned until further notice.

All women who have experienced breast cancer are welcome to attend our meetings (first Wednesday every month at 4:00pm Tuncurry Bowling Club). For further information please contact: Janet McMahon 6554 9440, Heather Kelly 65553437 or Brenda Thomson, Breast Care Nurse on 65929724
