Happy New Year to all - wishing you a healthy and safe 2021

Last meeting

Our last meeting for the year was at the Bistro of the club for our Christmas Dinner. We had a good roll up of ladies attend and were all pleased to receive a gift from Santa.

NEXT MEETING - Wednesday 4.00pm - 3rd February 2021

Our first meeting is usually a social catch up of how we all spent Christmas and New Year. Everyone is welcome to attend. Looking forward to hearing all your stories. We may also chat about ideas for guest speakers and the donations we have received in the 2020 even through COVID. We are hopeful of returning to our private meeting room for our next meeting.

No morning tea/coffee this month due to clashing with the Australia Day public holiday.

McGrath Foundation - Donation

For the first time in 13 years, Heather did not attend the third day of what is known as "the Pink Test" at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Sadly, with COVID, the ground numbers were restricted and so the McGrath Foundation came up with an inventive idea of selling "virtual seats" to raise funds. They sold 150,000 seats (much more than the Ground can hold) to raise $3,012,340.00. This is a record amount and will fund 22 McGrath breast care nurses for one year. There are currently 154 McGrath nurses who are mostly in rural and regional areas. Further funds will be raised by the online auctioning of both the Indian and Australian players "Baggy pink caps". "Breast Friends" made a donation to the McGrath Foundation by purchasing five virtual seats.

All women who have experienced breast cancer are welcome to attend our meetings (first Wednesday every month at 6.30pm Tuncurry Bowling Club). For further information please contact: Janet McMahon 6554 9440, Heather Kelly 65553437 or Brenda Thomson, Breast Care Nurse on 65929724
