Thank you to everyone that attended and helped with the organizing of our annual Mini Field of Women, it was once again a very successful event held by our group. Both the Forsterfortnightly and The Great Lakes Advocate gave great coverage of the morning in their latest editions. Tanya Thompson our local MP posted the below article on her Facebook page, thank you Tanya for your kind words.

“BREAST FRIENDS MORNING TEA

As Breast Cancer Awareness Month wraps up, the Great Lakes Breast Cancer Support Group, – ‘Breast Friends,’ hosted a morning tea for those currently navigating life with or without breast cancer, and to remember the many who have lost their battle with this devastating disease.

A sea of white, with a single blue figure, represented those we have lost, bringing a powerful visual reminder of the journey so many men and women in our community face.

Breast Friends is self-help group, creates a safe, confidential space for people to share, connect, and find support.

Meeting monthly at Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club, they also hold casual coffee gatherings and provide care packs to support people through their journey.

Thank you Breast Friends for all the amazing work you do!

Thank you Joan you have captured the essence of our group in your writing, every lady present at the meeting was very moved by your words .

BREAST FRIENDS TOGETHER”BY Joan Pereira
We are a cheerful group of people
Who come together through one cause.
Breast Cancer is “The Enemy”
Upon which we wage our “war”.

Hope and information
Is given out in friendship, too
So anyway BREAST FRIENDS can help,
That is what we BREAST FRIENDS will do!

We are a group of staunch Survivors,
We’re not “victims of disease”
We help support each other,
When any one of us is in need!

So even though the “road ahead”
May be full of rough and stormy weather,
We will share your journey with you
Because we’re all “BREAST FRIENDS TOGETHER” !

Coffee get together for November will be at Green Point, FRIDAY 29TH November 10am  Come along for a cuppa & cake and some Christmas shopping.
