Last Meeting
This Month we had both of our McGrath Nurses, Jacinta Bryan and Lynette Gill, attend our meeting. Jacinta was very pleased to be able to introduce Lynette to our group. Lynette’s role as a McGrath Nurse is to cover the Great Lakes area supporting people with Metastatic Cancer. Lynette works three days a week in this role along with supporting Jacinta who is focused mainly with Breast Cancer. Jacinta informed the group that even though the numbers of cancer diagnoses have increased, in her opinion the treatment has also changed away from Chemotherapy to Immunotherapy with good results being recorded. Jacinta recommended Cancer Council 131120 as a great place to source information regarding any cancer questions you have. Both Jacinta and Lynette thanked the group for all our support. They are both very grateful to be able to reach out to the Group when they feel the need arises. In Lynette’s thank you email to the group she made comment “it’s great to see women supporting one another and using your experiences to help others”.
We now have 3 Lymphatic Massage Therapists working in our area, all members of Australasian Lymphology Association and having undertaken studies/training – Instilling faith in their knowledge and skill.

Our September meeting we have Bruce Hopper joining us, Bruce is our local Senior Genetic Counsellor for our area and it is always a pleasure to have him come along and share his wealth of knowledge with us.
